Porsche To Lower Car Prices In Canada
Via 680 News:
Toronto - It’s the first sign things are changing due to the Canadian dollar.
Porsche said it is lowering Canadian prices on 2008 models by up to ten per cent.
The president of Porsche Cars North America said they listened to the market and did what is best for their customers in Canada.
For instance, a 2008 911 Turbo is going to cost $158,000 compared to $170,000 for the 2007 model — a savings of more than $12,000.
Well-heeled customers were apparently giving their luxury car dealers an earful about the vast difference in Canadian and American pricing and when the Canadian dollar reached parity.
Richard Cooper, vice-president of J.D. Power and Associates, said the big three may have to cut prices on more mainstream models as well but it will take some time.
Cooper advised to look for manufacturers to come out with sales built around our lofty loonie.
AWESOME. Now that Porsches are insanely cheap (who cares about crappy American cars!), I’m just gonna head over to Downtown Porsche this weekend and grab a dozen Cayman S’s, not to mention a handful of the new 911 GT2s. Am I being sarcastic? Maybe. Maybe not. After all, assuming each model would have a price tag reduction of $12,000, fifteen Porsches would equate to savings of $180,000. That should surely be enough to bribe the salesman into getting me those GT2s, since they aren’t available to the public until 2008. Or if not, then I’ll just get myself a nifty little Limited Edition Boxter S. You know, just to go to the bank and stuff.
And with the extra cash left, I’ll blow it all on Porsche-engraved pens.
I love life.
